Charging and looking after your mobility scooter helps keep it ready for your journeys during the hire. The most important routine is simple: charge it after each use, following the instructions for the model and charger supplied.

Do not wait until the battery runs out to prepare for your next outing.
When to charge your mobility scooter
When you return to your accommodation, arrange charging according to the instructions provided. If you use the scooter daily, charging at the end of the day should be part of your routine. Do not wait for the battery to run flat.
Charging times and indicator lights vary between models. Not all scooters need the same number of hours or display the same colours. Follow the specific instructions and ask us before charging if you are unsure.
Safe charging, step by step
- Park in a suitable, dry place, switch off the scooter and follow its manual.
- Use only the charger supplied for that equipment. Do not substitute another charger, even if the connector appears to fit.
- Check the charger, cable and connections for damage or moisture. If you notice a problem, do not use them and contact us.
- Connect and disconnect the equipment in the order stated in its instructions. Do not force connectors or pull on the cable.
- Follow the manufacturer’s charging time and conditions. Do not cover the charger or place it where it could get wet.
Looking after the scooter during your holiday
- Protect it from water: keep the controls, connections and charger dry. Do not wash the scooter with a hose or pressure washer.
- Gentle cleaning: use a soft cloth, slightly damp where appropriate, and dry the surfaces. Follow the model’s cleaning instructions.
- Store it somewhere sheltered: check that your accommodation has space to park and charge the equipment.
- Plan your outings: check the battery level before setting off. The range in the product description is indicative and varies with terrain, user weight and use.
What to do if something is not working as expected
If the scooter does not charge, displays warnings or behaves unusually, stop using it and contact Total Mobility. Do not open the battery, tamper with the wiring or attempt repairs yourself.
To help us assist you, tell us which scooter you have and what its indicators show. You can send a photo of the lights or warning without dismantling the equipment.
